Matthew 25:35 – “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink…” Ministering to others is the heart of God, and we share His heart. It is our desire to love people as God loved people and to leave a lasting impact on our community through real and practical service opportunities – serving in our city parks and public schools, and partnering with local ministries by helping with food drives, etc.
At RLC, we believe serving others is one of the most important parts of our Christian faith and can be done in a variety of ways. Below are just a couple of our exciting and fun outreaches.
Each year, we invite you to a day to put your faith into action and “be the church” by doing service projects throughout our community. One weekend every June we replace our regular Sunday Morning Gatherings with a Community Outreach Day. On this day, we coordinate dozens of projects and hundreds of volunteers from our church to serve the city of Salem. And there is something for everyone – children ages 3 and up, teens, and adults- even those with limited mobility. And free T-shirts are available for all who participate!
HARVEST PARTY – Annually on October 31st
On October 31st we offer a “Wild West Round-up” Harvest Party for ages 3 – 5th grade as a FREE, positive, safe alternative to Halloween – featuring clowns, a walk through black light maze, a puppet show with life size puppets, all kinds of carnival game booths, and TONS of prizes and candy!
SPLASH BASH – Annually in July
Water, water, and more water! During the HOT month of July, we celebrate our neighbors and community by putting on a monstrous block party on a Sunday afternoon. We offer inflatable waterslides, slip-n-slides, and obstacle courses – plus never ending food and lots of laughter! It’s a great place to cool off and make a new friend!
